This is for cutting glass only, not ceramic neither stone. It is a very good tool for trimming glass to go around outlets as well as the top of a backsplash. The cuts won't be perfect as it would be with a wet-saw, however, any imperfection will be hidden under the outlet cover or against the upper cabinets. Two things to consider:
FINISHING THE EDGES OF A BACKSPLASH:
When cutting an end piece of a mosaic - for example a 1x2 glass tile mesh mounted on a sheet, make sure to remove the cut piece off the sheet, and turn it to the inside of the mosaic, leaving the finished side of the glass on the edge. Any imperfection will be covered by the grout.
DEALING WITH OTHER MATERIALS:
If you are installing a mosaic tile that has stone, ceramic, or metal mixed with glass, this tool won't cut those, but you can cut a glass piece of the same size from the same mosaic sheet, and switch it with the other material's piece. Since most of mosaic tiles have a random pattern, switching the tiles of different materials within the sheet, will not change the look of the tile.
