FAQs
Do Zellige tiles require sealing?
It depends. Suppose it is a natural/artesian Zellige tile, such as the unglazed or low-temperature-glazed tile manufactured at an artisan shop; the tile must be sealed. Sealing prevents stains and protects grout, keeping tiles vibrant for years. However, if the tile in question is a glazed porcelain or ceramic tile that looks like Zellige (Zellige-Style), which is manufactured on a large scale at a tile factory, you do not need to seal it. At Mineral Tiles, all of our Zellige-Style Porcelain and Ceramic Tiles do not require sealing.
Can I mix different formats of zellige tiles?
Yes! Combining mosaics, subway tiles, and geometric tiles creates stunning patterns and visual depth.
Which areas are best for zellige tiles?
Walls, backsplashes, and feature walls are ideal. Zellige adds color and texture without the wear risks of high-traffic floors.
Can zellige go on floors or showers?
Yes, on shower walls and low-traffic floors if rated for wear. Avoid floors in heavy-use or freeze-thaw zones unless specified.
