It depends on the size of the grout joint. Typically anything with a grout joint larger than 1/8” will require a sanded grout for stability such as with the pebble, irregular mosaics, and porcelain tiles. If grout joints are anticipated to be larger than 1/8” or movement is expected in the application, then the use of epoxy grout is recommended.
